About Gig Listing
What is Gig Listing?
Gig Listing is an independent web search engine for live music events. You can look for music events, bands or venues by typing a few keywords in a text box. Search results are ordered by relevance and displayed in a structured and organised way.
What is gig search?
If you want to find gigs, you can type full or partial band or artist name, venue name or its partial address, postcode, location, county or county, and gig date.
Gig Listing will recognise mixed search queries. For example, if you type in "Metallica January 2009" Gig Listing will return Metallica gigs in January 2009
What dates will Gig Listing recognise?
Gig Listing recongnises the following date formats:

Short month names, such as jan for january or mar for march, are recognised in place of full month names.
Because Gig Listing lists future music events, search queries with dates that occur in the past will not return any results.
If search query includes partial date that does not include year and that would occur in the past if it was the current year, Gig Listing will return gig search resutls for the next year. For example, if today is 20th October 2008 and you type in 19th October, Gig Listing will return results for 19th October 2009.
What is band search?
If you want to search for a band or an artist, type in their name or where they're from and select band option before hitting Search button. Band search results currently show artist name, location and link to their website.
What is venue search?
If you want to look for a venue, type in the venue name and, if you know it, its partial address, postcode, location, county or county. Next, select venue option and press Search button. Venue search results will display venue details including web address if we have manage to find its web address.
If you can't find your favourite venue, post the request for the venue to be included via Add Website online form.
Search results
Search results are returned in order of relevance and in groups of 10. To get to the next page, use page navigation at the bottom of the page.
Each listing has a link back to the original data source.
Where do you get the listings from?
Our GigBot crawls the Internet to collect the web pages. Web pages that list music events are processesed and indexed by our GigSpotter software.
